Display a folder in a dual-pane window. Normally when you double-click a folder icon in a desktop window, the folder is opened in a single-pane, desktop window. To open a folder in a dual-pane, Explorer window: Click the folder icon, to select it. Press and hold the shift key. Double-click the folder icon. Release the shift key.
